My cousin was proposed to over the summer, and is planning to get married roundabouts October. She asked me to be in the wedding. I agreed (what was I thinking!?!) and so we're starting to get things organized and whatnot.
This is the dress we'll be wearing:

It's pretty, but eh. I'm not that excited about it. Firstly, because I'm a modest gal, and I prefer to keep my girls under close wraps. Secondly, its going to be October, and that nice pretty wrap that comes with the dress? Yeah, we're not allowed to wear it. Thirdly, holy crap, spaghetti straps!!! Finally...I'm the biggest girl (size wise) in the entire party, and so I'm terrified I'll feel like a cow next to everyone else. I'm trying not to worry about it so much, because I am who I am, y'know, but still....gah!!
Anyway, since the wedding is going to be in October, I'm figuring I'm going to be freezing my butt off, and despite how awesome that little wrap would be, I just don't think it'd be enough to keep me warm.
I'm debating on whether or not I want to craft up something for myself to wear after the wedding is over - during the reception and all. It'd make me feel better to be more covered, and it would keep me warm!
I've used this pattern before, and it works up beautifully. I'm thinking I could work one up in a nice neutral baby yarn (I found a beigey color), and it would be perfect.
My only concern is that it might be a bit tacky...I've never been in a wedding before, so I'm not sure if it's an unwritten protocol that bridesmaids are not allowed to wear homemade clothing items to keep themselves warm....
What do you think, blog readers of mine? Tacky or acceptable? Now, please remember, this is for AFTER the ceremony ONLY. I'm willing to do whatever pleases the bride on her day for the ceremony/pictures/etc. I'm strictly thinking about reception/after-events.
Give me your opinions!! (Please!)
