A Very Doge Birthday

Saturday was my little brother, Nick's birthday, and I must say, I'm quite proud of the card I made for him, even though it was ridiculously simple.

He is very big on internet memes, and so it's sort of a 'thing' between us to share the funnier ones and such. We'll even throw some of the phrases into normal conversation (if you can consider our conversations normal, that is).

One in particular we use often is the doge meme. So naturally, it seemed the perfect choice for his birthday card!

I did a quick Google Image search for the blank picture, and added the text on with Photoshop.

From there, I just printed it off and stuck it onto a blank card. Super simple? You bet!
But hey, it sort of fits the theme for the meme, I think.

The card got exactly the reaction I was expecting too! Nick opened it, shook his head, and just muttered "....wow."

I'm calling it a success. XD

Bofur Inspired Hat Pattern

(Check out this handy dandy Pinterest ready graphic I made!) In The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, one of the dwarves (Bofur) wore this really, really awesome hat.  I fell in love with it, and decided to see if I could crochet my own version of it.  Well, first I scoured the internet, hoping for a pattern, and when I didn't find one THEN I decided to make my own.  And since I know there are others out there who would love to have this pattern, I'm posting it here! PLEASE NOTE: You may make items and sell them using this pattern, but PLEASE link back to the pattern and credit me as the source. As Seen on Pinterest - The Retirement Survival Kit

One of my co-workers recently retired. I'm happy for her, because she really deserves it and everything...but I hate that she's leaving me!  I tried to bribe her into staying. I even threatened to lock her in the office and refuse to let her go.  Oddly, she didn't like that suggestion.  Since she was set on this notion of retirement, I immediately began scouring Pinterest for some sort of cute retirement gift for her. I knew I'd find something there, and I was not disappointed! Fairly soon after beginning my search, I came across the 'Retirement Survival Kit'.  (Photo from Pinterest - original pin link ) The pin was a link to an eBay auction, but of course my first thought on seeing it was "I can do that!". So I did.   I really should have taken a better photo of it. But this is all I managed to get. So, uh, ta da! I changed a few of the items around (the original link was from the UK, so some of the items weren't available)

Spidey Warmers

At long last, here is the pattern for the Spidey Warmers! I ended up not being able to get them to the boys til last week-ish, and I had to get their sister to take photos for me to post here. So thanks Jaimie!! Aren't they adorable? As you can see, I made two sets in different colors for them, but the pattern is for the red with blue trim. To make the others, just swap out the colors. Easy as pie! First off: much thanks and credit to the creativeyarn blog, as I used her free pattern as a basis for mine. Thank you!!!!! This pattern has not been tested, so if you find mistakes please let me know so I may correct them! --> Spidey Warmers F Hook Red Heart Super Saver Begin with Blue Ch 25, join (do not twist chain!)
